Significant concerns were raised by Maria Bustillos about this newsroom on Slack:
This piece, https://www.africa-ontherise.com/2019/04/diamonds-are-from-africa/ , seems to clearly plagiarise from here: https://www.capetownmagazine.com/shimansky-history-diamonds
Many pieces do not have attribution to their author:
Additionally, I would add that many of the articles, such as https://www.africa-ontherise.com/2019/02/roy-allela-kenyan-engineer-and-innovator-creates-gloves-that-could-revolutionize-sign-language-communication/ and https://www.africa-ontherise.com/2019/01/london-stock-exchange-group-announces-companies-to-inspire-africa-2019-report/ , seem to be heavily reliant on third-party sources with little evidence of fact-checking.
I would also add that some articles attribute authors in the body of the article, but not in the byline displayed elsewhere. While this is less serious, it would ideally be addressed.
If these issues are not addressed promptly, I would recommend that a challenge be brought.

I wanted to note that the newsroom was responsive via Slack and has agreed to make changes and investigate methods to improve clarity on the source of content aggregated from elsewhere. I think that with the appropriate changes, the newsroom will be brought into compliance.
